Burnt

What happens after you’ve been burnt?

Burnt is a book about betrayal. How individuals betray themselves, and how organizations betray their talent. Covering topics like work myths, how to change the burnout narrative within policies and feedback systems, and how organizations can give back — to people and to the bottom line.

The Opt-Out

The Opt-Out", Kelley Bonner illuminates the pervasive narrative of struggle that Black women face daily. Drawing from candid conversations on the Black Girl Burnout podcast, Bonner exposes the societal expectation for Black women to constantly endure, yet she presents a revolutionary alternative. The Opt-Out is a choice to prioritize personal happiness over perpetual strife. However, what impediments prevent Black women from seizing their rightful peace? From media that idolizes the struggle, to harmful cultural myths, and even the weight of racism and sexism, barriers abound. But with self-awareness, community, and actionable steps, "The Opt-Out" guides readers towards a liberated path, reaffirming that Black women can choose joy and redefine their narrative.

We worked with Kelley on a Fortune 500 C-level leadership offsite event. She took time to deeply understand the audience so she could deliver the most impactful presentation, guide difficult but necessary discussions, and facilitate workshops to help the team evolve their thinking and behaviors. Her approach to inclusive innovation, diversity and belonging was presented in the context of broader corporate goals and strategies, creating the necessary connection between the two for our client. She is truly a powerhouse and is uniquely skilled at moving the needle on helping teams operate with an “inclusive innovation” approach. We could not recommend her enough and look forward to teaming up with her again!

Working with [Burn Bright] has been a great experience. They are superb at translating deep expertise in mental health into an engaging and impactful experience for participants. They took the time to understand our organization’s mission-driven, scientific culture.
